Anthony J. Nugent is executive vice president of MetLife’s Employee Benefits Sales organization which provides employee benefit and retirement solutions to more than 60,000 group customers in the United States, including over 90 of the top 100 FORTUNE 500® companies.

Appointed to this role in 2008, Nugent oversees the group insurance and retirement and savings sales and service groups that generate over $16 billion in annual revenue. Under Nugent’s leadership, the organization has streamlined its operational structure, maximized its resources and deepened marketplace relationships, resulting in optimal organizational performance that contributes to meeting and exceeding overall sales objectives. Through its many established relationships, MetLife products and services reach millions of employees. MetLife is currently ranked #1 in Group Life, Dental, Income Annuities and Auto & Home, and #3 in Group Disability Income Insurance.

Since joining MetLife in 1991, Nugent has held several leadership roles and has a proven track record of sales success. Prior to his current role, Nugent served as senior vice president, Agency Distribution Group, where he was responsible for a book of business spanning 31 states, supported by 35 sales firms and over 2500 Financial Service associates.

In addition, Nugent held the positions of regional vice president for Institutional Sales in the Southeast Region, national vice president for 401(k) and Asset Management and regional vice president positions in Individual Business for the Southern California Region and for Group Regional Operations in the Western Region.

Before joining MetLife, Nugent was vice president for a national brokerage firm specializing in executive benefits for the large corporate market.

Nugent holds many professional credentials which demonstrate his continued passion and expertise in the field of life insurance and investment products. He holds Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations and is a Registered Principal with Series 6, 7, 9, 10, 24, 26 & 63 licenses. Nugent is a member of the board of directors for MetLife Securities, Inc., Hyatt Legal Plans, Inc. and the Employee Benefit Research Institute.
